More Than a Habit: A Treatable Condition

Code of Ethics

At The Zenit Room, our team of Drug and Alcohol Counsellors, Addiction Specialists, and Recovery Coaches work to a clear set of ethical guidelines and best practices for confidentiality, professionalism, honesty, integrity, and standards, to protect both our clients and staff at the highest level.

Confidentiality

Ethical Standards for Confidentiality at The Zenit Room

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the ethical framework at The Zenit Room. We recognize that trust is essential in the client-counsellor relationship, and protecting client privacy is fundamental to building and maintaining that trust. Our commitment to confidentiality ensures that clients can engage in the therapeutic process with the confidence that their personal information is secure and treated with the utmost respect.

The Importance of Confidentiality

At The Zenit Room, we understand that the success of counselling and coaching relies heavily on the client's ability to share personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly. To facilitate this, we prioritize confidentiality as a key ethical principle, ensuring that all client information is safeguarded. This commitment enables clients to feel safe and supported as they work through their challenges and pursue their recovery and personal growth goals.

Protection of Client Privacy

All services provided by The Zenit Room are conducted with strict adherence to confidentiality standards. This means that our Recovery Specialists, Coaches, and any other staff members involved in the client’s care are bound by ethical and legal obligations to protect client privacy. No client information, including records, session details, or even the fact that a client is receiving services, is disclosed to anyone outside of The Zenit Room without the client's explicit written consent.

Exceptions to Confidentiality

While The Zenit Room is committed to maintaining confidentiality, there are certain exceptional circumstances where disclosure may be required by law. These situations include instances where there is a risk of harm to the client or others, cases of abuse or neglect, or when mandated by a court order. In such cases, The Zenit Room will make every effort to discuss the need for disclosure with the client before any information is shared, ensuring transparency and maintaining as much privacy as possible within the legal framework.

Client Consent and Informed Disclosure

In circumstances where the sharing of client information may be beneficial, such as coordinating care with other professionals, The Zenit Room requires written consent from the client. This consent is obtained after fully informing the client about what information will be shared, with whom, and for what purpose. Clients retain control over their personal information and can revoke consent at any time.

By upholding these stringent confidentiality standards, The Zenit Room creates a secure and trusting environment, allowing clients to engage fully in their healing and personal development, knowing that their privacy is respected and protected.
